1. What is the purpose of HowtoDrawCartoonCharacters.com?
The purpose of HowtoDrawCartoonCharacters.com - is really quite simple. It will offer super in-depth, step by step 'character studies' - designed to help you tap into your imagination and creativity, and come up with new characters of your very own.
2. What kinds of characters will I be able to draw?
The most popular kinds of characters, fall along the lines of animals, people, monsters, dragons... and well - more! But those first four are key I'd say. From the surveys conducted on my other site - DrawCartoonsOnline.com - I have a really good idea of types of things that people want to draw.
3. How many characters will you create?
Much like the background in the design of the site suggests... truly --- the sky's the limit! Initially, I'll focus on those characters that are more popular - things that most people would benefit from basing a unique cartoon character around. I think someday... it's going to be a really long list! :-)
4. What is the first character going to be?
It was quite revealing actually. There are definitely a few types of characters that really 'stand out' in terms of subjects that people most want to create a character around. So for sure - the first one, will be a character that most people want to draw. I'm going to keep it a secret until its actual launch. :-)
5. When will the first character be available?
The subject of the first character study will be revealed as soon as it's completed. I'm treating this new project/site as an entire process - and so where necessary... I'm going to take enough time to ensure that the finished product is extremely helpful to you. :-)
6. Will you still be making lessons for the other site?
How could I not!? :-) Drawing - really, is what I love to do the most. So for sure, I'll be creating lots more lessons (and categories too - it just keeps on GROWING!) for my other site, www.how-to-draw-cartoons-online.com.
7. Can you please explain the 'orbs'!? :-)
Sure can! The 'orbs' - that actually sort of look more like balloons (don't you think!?)... are my way of making this site - all the more fun. Each orb, adorned with a question or exclamation mark... represents a brand new character study - yet to be created and released. When a character is completed - the orb will in a sense... *POP* :-)
The inspiration from this came mainly from games like Mario World - where you can punch a brick with a question mark on it, and receive a "power up" - be it a mushroom, flower, star, leaf, cape... etc.
Also... the orbs instill a sense of wonder and mystery. They beg the question of "I wonder what's going to be next?"
8. What format will the book/character studies be in?
I feel that the easiest way to deliver this book & each new character study - consisting of many pages each keep in mind!!... will be via digital ebook format. There is also an interest in having the studies delivered via hardcopy book. And for sure - I'm looking into it. Really, it'll be nice to offer the studies in both formats.
9. How can I find out when the book is complete and/or new characters are up on the site?
As soon as the first orbs *pop* - and in their places - brand new cartoon characters... I'm going to send out an update to everyone on the following mailing list. It's a simple way to send a quick and brief message - letting you know what's going on. So for sure, to stay in the know, please sign up yourself --- here's the form...
